Meet a Local Mom!

By Erin, Macaroni Mom February 9, 2016

~~~ Meet Erin~~~
How many children what do you have?  I have a 13 year old son and a 17 year old daughter.
Besides being a super hero (aka mommy), what else do you do?
Well, in between homeschooling and managing all the daily house stuff I enjoy crafting, refinishing furniture, and knitting.  We also love attending our church and being able to help serve the community with the Trinity Church of Smyrna .Our family also has an Etsy shop. Husband is in charge of the power tools, youngest helps with social media and is my tech support; my daughter and I are the creative minds behind the designs and projects. Running the shop teaches the kids business, money managing skills and encourages their inner entrepreneur to shine.
Where do you live?
We moved to Smyrna about 11 years ago from Washington State.
Favorite local family activities or events?
We always enjoy the seasonal U picks at Fifer’s Orchards, as well as the Fifer Fall fest. The Dover Comic Con has become a new family favorite the last couple years. We also love to hit a lot of the local Farmer’s Market and support local business.
Greatest successes of motherhood?
So many proud moments come to mind, hard to pick from. The last few years I really have cherished seeing my children maturing and becoming young adults. Encouraging them to be who they are and to embrace their unique talents and skills.
Greatest challenge in motherhood?  How did you overcome this challenge?
Being a mom of two teenagers definitely has it challenges!  One challenge that I think parents of teenagers might face is preparing them for the real world and the challenges that come along with being an adult. I also think it is very important to be involved in the community, volunteer and to be a blessing to others.   As parents we are trying to create an environment that will allow them to explore their skills, talents, passion and be creative. Giving them life experiences that hopefully with contribute to their happiness and success in the future.
