Meet a Local Mom!

By Jaclyn, Macaroni Mom March 2, 2016

~~~Meet Jaclyn~~~
How many children?  What are their ages?
I am mommy to three great kiddos – Kate, age 9; Jack, age 7; and Ian, age 4
Besides being a superhero (aka mommy), what else do you do?
I work for St. John’s Early Learning Center in Dover.  I teach a four year old class Monday – Thursday.  I am also their curriculum coordinator.  As the curriculum coordinator, I am responsible for choosing themes, religion, scheduling special visitors and fun field trips.
I am also very involved in my church, Hope Church and my husband and I plan outreach events in the Dover community.
When I am not running my kids to school or their extracurricular activities, I enjoy reading, date nights with my hubby, being outside – as a family we love to take long walks through state parks and wildlife areas and going to the beach.
Where do you live?
I live in Dover but we are in the process of moving to Smyrna.
Favorite local family activities or events?
As I mentioned, we enjoy going to state parks and wildlife areas for walks and exploring.  We like visiting Fifer’s for u-pick strawberries, blueberries and apples. We like to stay active and on the go together, so as a family we are up for pretty much anything!
Greatest successes of motherhood?
One of the hardest things for me when becoming a mother was the feeling of success.  If everything wasn’t done or in place by the end of the day, I would label that day as a “failure.”  With each child, I find I have been able to re-define my definition of success.  Some days I define success as keeping everyone safe, semi-clean and fed!
Greatest challenge in motherhood?  How did you overcome this challenge?
It can be very hard not to compare your children to one another.  It is important to remember that even though they have the same parents, each child is different in their own way. Each one has their own strengths and we need to nurture and embrace those differences.
Surprise us!
My husband and I have it on our hearts to adopt.  Within the next five years we are hoping and praying that we would be able to travel internationally to adopt an orphan and become a family of 6!
Dunkin’ or Starbucks? Dunkin
Beach or mountains? Definitely the beach, it is my happy place!
City or country? Country
Skis or snowboard? Neither, I am afraid of breaking something!
Celebrity crush?  I don’t have a celebrity crushes, but my husband is pretty cute!
What website do you think we should check out and why?
Thanks so much for sharing!  It was fun getting to know you and your family just a little bit more.  I'm hoping that your dreams of adoption come true!  Any child would be so lucky.  Keep up the awesome work!
